Do you think that eventually, 50 percent of all high schoolers will be online at some point or another? Will this spell the end for history, geography, english, and maths teachers in the classroom?

Not in high school because most of them dont have the self discipline yet to do school work without a teacher making them. i think its going to get alot more popular for colleges though. mine already has many courses available online.

Well here in the UK they are planning on taking History, Geography and parts of English out of the classroom and replacing it with learning how to blog and how to set up a twitter account.

I don't know about 50 percent, but the number is increasing rapidly. There are many pros and cons of such. For some, online education is a godsend, bringing high quality curriculum and instruction into remote rural areas via the web. For others it is inconceivable that the 1950's brick and mortar model designed for suburban settings could ever be challenged or replaced. I think it clearly is the wave of the future however. onlinehighschool.org
